Download My Life Sentences – A True Story for FREE

Hello! I apologize for taking a little too long to post something! I have been doing certain things (other side projects) and following the progress of my country’s election [Kenya]. I hope everything is going good for you.

Today(starting Wednesday 3/6/2013), I am going to give my book away for FREE on Amazon. I have been waiting for this for a while now and I figured I should do it now and then extend my reach to other platforms like smashwords and Barnes and Noble. So here is what I am going to do:

If you own a kindle tablet, an android tablet, a smart phone, or any other type of gadget that accepts applications, then you are all set. Oh, wait, I have to also mention the fact that you need an appetite for true stories (like the nearly 10,000 others who have read the book already). I normally tell people to read the reviews first: like these two I grabbed from Amazon:

You can also read more reviews by visiting my Amazon page before making your decision.

When you are done reading the reviews, you can grab your copy by downloading it to your device (including your computer if you don’t own the above mentioned tablets). Here is the snapshot of the book:

If you run into problems while trying to do this, please notify me and I will be more than happy to help you. If you would like to share a link on Facebook or any other social media that you use, please know that I will truly appreciate. That is all am going to say for today. I hope you find this book inspiring.

Thank you!

Get Out And Vote – Voting Rights

Hi everyone,

Aren’t you glad that the election season is just 48 hours away from its end? Think of it this way: thousands of hateful commercials and attack ads. We are already watching too many fashion and car infomercials and now, every minute does not pass without hearing ‘I approve this message‘. It seems every side of the isle will say anything they can get away with and hope that the undecided Americans will buy that crap.

Now, the reason why am urging people to go vote on Tuesday or on any day before that as long as your state allows early voting is this: Not all people in this world have the freedom and right to vote. Heck, women are still, in other countries, fighting to overcome this obstacle. So, if you have that right to vote, exercise it. Most people ignore such events as taking part in elections and then later they complain after whoever is elected screws them up. The best to do is get up and cast that vote.

The most amazing part of freedom is the ability to vote for whoever you want without being forced. That sure smells good right? You see, one thing that breaks our hearts – and if you are not heart-broken at any time, good for you; when our votes seem to mean nothing, have no impact at all. What is the point of voting? Remember Al Gore and Bush? If you are a Kenyan, remember what happened in 2007 election? It gets messy when politicians refuse to concede defeat. (One west African leader once said – there are two options for us “We either win or we win“. That is not a typo. What he meant was that if he lost, he would not agree to any defeat. People died because of that evil-minded dictator.

Thank goodness, America is not that kind of nation. So, again, go vote and express yourself. This election is crucial as far as where the nation will be in 2013 and years to come.

I have tried to be neutral as far as who is better when it comes to leading this country forward. Good luck and I hope that we all have a fabulous week.

Thank you and please remember to vote or sorry, I meant subscribe to my blog and drop me some comments!

NB: All these are my personal opinions and the decision to vote and who to vote for are personal and important!

Hi everyone,

This post is multipurpose. I say that because I am writing to say thanks to the more than five thousand (5,000 +) readers who have found interest in my book and secondly, welcoming anyone who wants to read it for the first time. I have been amazed by how impressive the Kindle Store is. Amazon gives authors 5 days of free promotions and so I turn around and say, why not give my readers a free gift? It does not hurt!

So, how do you download the book? It is as simple as taking a fork and scooping a piece of cake or the easiest thing you have ever done in your life. I will outline the few ways I can remember below so you can choose whichever fits your needs.

The book will be available for FREE on THURSDAY & FRIDAY ONLY

  • If you have a Kindle, Good, because all you need to do is Search for the title [MY LIFE SENTENCES – A TRUE STORY] or use this like : My Life Sentences – A True Story to locate the book on Amazon.
  • If you do not own a Kindle Tablet, you can simply download a Kindle app for your respective smartphone or other tablet type (If you have one: could be iPhone or Android or any other smartphone that accepts apps). After downloading the app, the process is the same: Just search for the title, read the reviews and if you like it, download the book! Enjoy.

If you have a computer at home, you can download my book onto your computer and read it from there. When you click download on Amazon, you will be prompted to download the necessary reading app which is FREE after which you will be able to download the book and start enjoying it.

Why You Should Make It In America

Hi everyone, I hope you are doing great or perhaps better than the day before. Today, am going to point out some of the things I have in mind and particularly those that explain why you should be able to make something happen in America. Don’t get me wrong, you might give an argument against it or for another nation and I respect your opinion.

Most of us have read, heard or experienced the wildly known American Dream and honestly, sometimes it turns out to be a totally different animal to face on your own. Whether you are an American or not, I am going to share some of my own reasons why you should make it in America and I will repeat, they are my opinions and so, read them at your own risk (although there is no obvious danger resulting from it).

  • If you are the kind of foreigner that knows little about it, well, you are in for a treat. I definitely do not want to sound like some kind of a traitor or sissy for saying this but I will say it anyway. Most of us are not looking for freebies, and that is definitely the spirit you need if you want to achieve something anywhere on earth. If you sit on the couch watching the Jersey Shore on television, then you are just taking the world back. If you get off your couch, you can do something worth doing.
  • Quite often, I hear people complain about how there are no jobs and stuff like that. Really? You see, when you don’t have a job to do, make it a full time job to look for one. What about that huh? That is why America is a place where you can start from nowhere and end up somewhere. If you loose your job today, seriously search for a new one, you will find it. I am not just giving empty praises here, after all, no one pays me to say this.
  • Obviously there are other stumbling blocks to success, and that is independent of where you are. Sometimes, it is the governments and other times, yourself. Consider someone who knows very well that he or she is not ready to buy a house yet. Instead of waiting a little more, he/she jumps straight to it without thinking. When the banks come knocking at the door for mortgage default, then they start realizing that they made the wrong decision in the first place. American dream gone awry. Think first. Save, then spend!
  • Look around, if you find another place that pays Software Engineers the highest salary in the world, call me maybe, and I will see what we can do about it. Trust me on this one, I know the rent is so darn high but still worth it. If you work hard, just hard enough not to kill yourself, you will succeed. That is why I truly believe in hard-work.
  • I am not saying everybody should pack their bags and fly to the States. No. Maybe my message is not even meant for those who are not here. Maybe it is meant for my neighbors, or for myself.<3. In simple words, sometimes we overlook what we already have around us. We often look far away for what we think we need and yet we could as well look into ourselves and see how surrounded by possibilities and opportunities we are. No one will force you to work hard. No one will change how you view things. You can only be the change you dream of.
  • Finally, I must say this with a fervent heart, that we all have a role to play in this world. What is your role? (Shakespeare: ‘The world is a stage……’). If we keep blaming others for our failures, how will that help us make it anywhere? If we cannot make it here, how can we make it anywhere else? Think about how fortunate you are and then do something about it. Exeunt.

I really don’t like writing too much. I should definitely stop here. I hope you have a great day, a day filled with insight and hope. A day like no other. A better view and perspective of tomorrow. You know that you own your destiny, defend it. Goodbye.

After Seven Weeks, What’s Next?

Image

Just before going to bed last night and after working so hard to complete my Unit 6 homework, I started recounting the whole adventure, the entire experience of being a Udacian. There are a lot of things I could say but I will keep it short and with meaning of course.

First, I want to thank the entire Udacity Online University team: Dave, the a little bit mysterious Peter, and of course Sebastian. Without their expertise, we wouldn’t be here today talking about Udacity. They deserve the credits. Secondly, I want to thank my fellow students: (usernames only) fnenu, valek, jesyspa, forbiddenvoid, Tom Vandenbosch, MichaFire, [nearerprefect – who gave me hints even when it had nothing to do with Java or Groovy] and so many others I cannot list here because the list would be endless. I can publicly say that I couldn’t do it better without your support.

Bottom line, what was it all about? I learned a lot of code and then did a lot of networking through that short time. Meeting new students from all over the world meant a lot to me as a student. When others were almost giving up their races, others stepped in to encourage them. I didn’t think of throwing in the towel, I had promised myself to stick to the course till the end of the road! I am glad I am here today and I hope you are as well.

Now here is my opinion on the entire course: I personally found Unit 7(The tour) the most fascinating, most interesting, and most enjoyable of all the course videos in these 7 weeks. I had never dreamed of visiting the Computer Museum or Firefox Headquarters or even Stanford University. That was one of the best free tours I have ever had. I also hope you enjoyed it yourself.

Finally, remember that we have been prepared to do our parts in making the world a better place. We have the knowledge and tools to solve the problems we will most definitely face after this course is over. Whether you scored 100% or not, you have learned something very valuable. Let us step out of our circles and spread the good in us to others. If you have something you want to say about Udacity, please post it as a comment here or on Udacity Forums. Aren’t we graduates? I think we are!

I am a Udacian, I am a better Student today, I will strive to do better each day! Thank you and Subscribe to my blog or read more at My Life Sentences

You can still watch the tour videos[for those not part of Udacity Class] at Udacity Online University
