Download My Life Sentences – A True Story for FREE

Hello! I apologize for taking a little too long to post something! I have been doing certain things (other side projects) and following the progress of my country’s election [Kenya]. I hope everything is going good for you.

Today(starting Wednesday 3/6/2013), I am going to give my book away for FREE on Amazon. I have been waiting for this for a while now and I figured I should do it now and then extend my reach to other platforms like smashwords and Barnes and Noble. So here is what I am going to do:

If you own a kindle tablet, an android tablet, a smart phone, or any other type of gadget that accepts applications, then you are all set. Oh, wait, I have to also mention the fact that you need an appetite for true stories (like the nearly 10,000 others who have read the book already). I normally tell people to read the reviews first: like these two I grabbed from Amazon:

my-free-book-giveaway

You can also read more reviews by visiting my Amazon page before making your decision.

When you are done reading the reviews, you can grab your copy by downloading it to your device (including your computer if you don’t own the above mentioned tablets). Here is the snapshot of the book:

If you run into problems while trying to do this, please notify me and I will be more than happy to help you. If you would like to share a link on Facebook or any other social media that you use, please know that I will truly appreciate. That is all am going to say for today. I hope you find this book inspiring.

Quora – The partner that never disappoints!

A friend of mine recently introduced me to Quora and I dismissed him at first. I quickly looked at the sample content he shared with me and moved on to the next email I was supposed to read. It took me a while to realize that I had made a mistake.

quora

Here is why I was missing out on some priceless information during the days that I was not using Quora: The real experience, the best answers you can get from real people, the idea that you can ask a question anonymously and get what you need, the fact that it is free for all and much more.

Assuming you have a really personal question that you cannot publicly ask someone (face to face), just hop on to Quora and within a few hours, you will receive answers. Think about anything, technology, business, life, politics among other subjects, you will not be disappointed! Instead of wasting time on  sites like Facebook or Twitter (oh no, I know you are not wasting time, sorry), Quora puts things to perspective.

There are certain questions that most humans ask themselves. Queries about life, what to do when your wife is spending two hours at the store while you are waiting in the car or what to do when you are 35 years old and feeling like crap. Most often, you will notice that by just noticing that you might have wasted so much time in your life, you have taken the first step towards self-awareness!

So, let me make this easier for everyone by shortening my post and giving you a minute to pay a visit to Quora .

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation to Quora whatsoever. I am just a loyal user whose life has been changed by the great content generated by Quora. The fact is, having the right information is not enough. Taking action is what matters. Put the two together and you will never be the same again!

Thank you.

The Cost And Value Of Freedom

Image

Hi! Today, am going to write about something most of us(including me) take for granted: freedom. There are so many types of freedoms of course but I will focus on what July 4th means the United States of America and what independence day means to other nations. That subject is vital enough to be, well, history. What do I think about it? Let me share my thoughts.

I have come to learn and believe that freedom, as you might have found out or read is not free. If you are lucky enough to be free today, someone, you may or may not know, fought for it years ago. Maybe you are still fighting for it but I know the ultimate goal is to win it. The endless question in my mind is this: are we really free today? Tell me what you think.

The path to freedom is long and winding. It is rough and sometimes or most often filled with blood. One thing am fascinated about is war movies. It is sad that the aftermath is death and destruction but what they teach me is the cost of freedom as well as its value(don’t get me wrong here, I think most wars are evil but sometimes necessary). I often ask myself what role I am currently playing when it comes to modeling a freer universe, a place free from dictatorships, a world without tyranny, hate, slavery, wars, corporate greed, enmity and so forth. If that was possible, perhaps the only struggle for freedom would be from our inner selves.

Sometimes I look across the road and see people walking peacefully, talking and doing what makes them happy. It makes me rethink a lot of things. The question of whether they know that other people cannot even walk across their streets without fear of death or not is hard to answer. In America, people sleep soundly – be it at night or day. Every time they hear an explosion, they know it is a tire blowing up by accident or the obvious fireworks on the 4th of July. In other places where freedom is out of reach and a dream yet to be turned into a reality, the only type of explosion they have lived to see is that of a bomb blast or a grenade going off and people dieing.

Are we taking anything for granted? Maybe or maybe not. It remains to be seen whether the whole world will truly be free. The path to freedom is not smooth. We all have wishes, don’t we? I do! I also have dreams. I once in a while feel like I could jump into the boat and save it from sinking. But, like most others, I get discouraged by what is going on around the world. The obvious lack of leadership. Maybe one day I will actually do something about it, meanwhile, I will keep trying my best.

I will end here for now. Meanwhile, let us ask ourselves what freedom really means to us. If we can live without any kind of fear, shouldn’t we be thankful to those who work day and night to protect us? I think we should appreciate their sacrifices. Besides that, let us do our part in building a freer world, one step at a time.

My final word is this: Let Freedom reign. God bless the world.

How To Make Money From eBooks

Image

Today, am out to show you some of the tested and proven ways that will move you from your couch(no offense) to the mailbox and finally to the bank! Is it that easy? Not really. After all, if it was that simple, everyone would have done it right? The good news is that you can do it today or tomorrow or well, never! Let us get started. What if you made some money from books?

It is not surprising to know that many people would rather take the easy routes when it comes to making mmmm money! Ever heard of the saying ‘Too good to be true’? You probably have, but if not, then you now know it. There are thousands of ways you could use to make a living but tonight, I will spare myself some time by talking about what I have done and worked for me. So, let us see how you could write your first book, publish and cash some royalty checks in a few months.

  • First, if you believe that everybody has a story to tell, then you probably have one yourself. If you don’t belong to that community of story tellers, well, this might not be for you after all. No offense! Now, the biggest question is this: how do you start writing a book in the first place? The answer could be found in thousands of books on how to write or simply deciding to start working on your manuscript after you finish reading this post. Here is my advice: stop postponing things and start writing a rough draft of your future bestseller. If you need help on doing that, let me know through the comments.
  • At first I was a little surprised by the fact that some people do not have word processors in their home computers. I am not surprised anymore because I have come to know that not all people can afford the software or are tech savvy enough to learn of the vast number of free equally – capable tools online. Don’t sweat it further if you are that person because I got your back. If you do not have Microsoft Word, smile and when you are done reading this post, zoom back here and check these great links out:
  1. Free Google Docs – This is one of the many things Google provides users for Free(well, to an extent). Here, after you create a free account, you can create basically any type of document you want and save it to the cloud and later access it from virtually anywhere through an internet connection. You are assured of security here, so, go for it if you need it.
  2. Microsoft SkyDrive – This is another Free tool offered by Microsoft (this is so cool because if you cannot afford Microsoft Office programs, all you need is a free account here and you are good to go). Your documents will be available to you from anywhere. All you will need is an internet connection. You don’t even need a flash drive.
  3. OpenOffice Word Editor – This is the best rival to Microsoft Office. The good part is this: It is free of charge. There are really great guys out there working so hard to bring you the best tools for the price of zero dollars. That is one of the ways we could all make this world a better place, don’t you think? Anyway, those are the few I could think of. If you have more, why not share through the comments section? Thank you. Now, back to the tips.
  • Thirdly, let us assume you have written your draft and you want to know your next step. One thing that readers hate is unedited work. I mainly think of it this way: if you do not like poor grammar, then no one else does. So, edit your book as many times as possible. You are trying to convince a stranger to spend some money and if you understand marketing, you know what am talking about. This is not rocket science. You can choose to hire a professional editor or get some of your cool friends and relatives(Warning: you might be disappointed by their criticisms and you risk losing them). Do everything you need to make your work smooth and easily readable. How much should you spend preparing your book for publishing? That is a big question. My answer is simple: Do not borrow a thousand dollar loan for it. Find people who can edit your book for the least possible. Watch out for scam artists out there who might charge you thousands of dollars for what your sister or co-worker could do for a thank you!
  • Your book, hopefully is now near ready for publishing. Where do I go from here? Well, you can choose to go the traditional route (also known as sending your manuscript to sometimes mean agents) or self-publishing (otherwise known as do – it – yourself but so cheap and 75% royalties). At the moment, I am going to focus on self-publishing on Amazon Kindle Store. The good thing about it is this: millions of people own kindle tablets and publishing is FREE. You earn royalties at rates you will never believe and your books are accessible to ….well, everyone with a Kindle all over the world?? At least that is what I know from my experience.
  • Is your book ready for publishing? If you answered yes, then visit the Kindle Direct Publishing site and start making some serious money pal. You basically have everything you need at this point to turn your dream into a reality. I did it by getting off the couch and writing(pen and paper) a chapter each night, editing several times and finally publishing My Life Sentences – A True Story and Across The River both of which are available now on Amazon. Good luck.

My final word is this: Nothing is easy in this world. The only way to draw a thick line between you and someone who says nothing can be done or you cannot be an author is by actually writing. Start tonight or after you finish your dinner or even after shower. Talking about showers, ideas normally trickle down my brain when am in the shower. Crazy. Anyway, I want to read your book in the future. Share a link here and if you have questions, ask me. What and why are you waiting for? See you soon and good luck!

Have a beautiful day everyone!

NB: If you happen to be the 7,000th visitor, contact me for a gift! Look to your right for the numbers!

An Urgent But Ignored Problem!

Image

One evening, I decided to walk around my neighborhood for some cardio. Since I live near a local high school, I thought why not just walk around their playground as I listen to the music in my mp3! What I learned that day opened my eyes wide and taught me so much I didn’t know! I thought writing about it might help me connect with others facing the same issues in their communities. Here is what happened.

Immediately after stepping into the playground that was beautifully covered with green grass, I saw two teenage boys (one looked 10 and the other 15). They both had skateboards and cans of soda. Without much ado, the older one approached me and asked me a question I never expected from him. I later came to realize that it was not a surprise to many but I was shocked! What did you just ask me young boy? Wait…

As I walked by them, the older boy walked towards me. I thought he was just being nice by not obeying the ‘Don’t talk to strangers’ rule but he had a different agenda! “Hey, do you have any cigarettes?”, He asked. Without even showing my surprise, I said NO. I told them that I didn’t smoke (because I didn’t smoke, and I still don’t)! What came to my mind a few seconds later was the question of why they smoked at that age. What went wrong? Who is responsible for that habit? I couldn’t get answers of course until later when I consulted with people who had been around longer than me.

There is one thing I think I understand and that is addiction. It is something that is hard to beat – be it from cigarette smoking, alcohol abuse, other drugs and basically anything people overdo. People who do these things do not want to be judged and those who do not, might not fully understand how it feels to be in their shoes. The question is: where are we headed with teenagers smoking like chimneys and others drinking like fish? It is a sad reality that we must face as a community, a state, a nation, a continent and as a world!

Why is this a huge problem? It is an obvious health hazard and besides that, the list goes on and on. When I was told that some high schools have smoking designated areas here in the US, I was so surprised and yet I do not live under a rock. This is not an American problem, it is the whole world’s problem. We can either step in and try to reduce if not stop this habit or we will all lose! We can end this together. My advice to you is this: If you can do something in your community, do it and save the lives of your people. We do not have to wait for the federal government to help us. We are our own police.

I am going to stop here. See you next time and please, remember to subscribe to my blog if you like what you see. Also, leave comments, that is how I know what your thoughts are and it makes me feel inspired to do more! Thank You.

First, I want to say that I have been waiting for this day for quite some time now. Yes, today(Friday) is the second of my 3 Day book giveaway on Amazon Kindle Store (My Life Sentences – A True Story). It makes me feel so happy, let alone accomplished, to say that everyone who is interested in reading a true story can do just that for FREE.

I have had several instances where readers wish they had a way of reading my book if they do not own a Kindle. Just do this: Go to Amazon Reading Apps  and download the free cloud reader app and after that, download my book and read it from there! That is all you need.Good luck!

I normally suggest to people to read reviews and the book description before downloading it and I think that makes it much easier for them as they make decisions as to whether they want it or not. This is a free world, isn’t it? (Freedom of choice). Disclaimer: Not all people have seen freedom yet

Now friends, let us join hands and look at my dream goal! The last time I gave away my book on Amazon, I had more than a thousand downloads by readers from all over the world in a single day. The reason I wrote my book was to inspire others, give people a different view on life and that was what I wanted. I honestly didn’t consider being number one anywhere, after all, how often does that happen? Hold on, nothing is impossible in this world. I want to achieve my dreams, not necessarily showing up on the NY Times Book List but on Amazon! We can all do this together!

Here is how: if you do not have a Kindle tablet or app, download it to your computer. Pass this link on, share with your friends through the social networks, it will mean the world to me, it will be everything I ever wanted. Help me reach that milestone and I will always be thankful! Why am I doing all these? Simple, nothing other than trying to inspire others and one way or another, make this world a better place!

I will be posting the total numbers on Sunday and I hope you will back to celebrate with me! I can’t wait.

Texting & Driving or A Suicide Mission?

Image

First off, I want to believe that there are some things that we as humans can easily forget and then there are those that come back into view every time something happens. The last time two fire trucks and more than ten police vehicles were called for me was in late 2009 on highway 9 at around six in the evening! I remember it very vividly. Something really horrible had happened!

I had just left college that sunset and headed to work. Since that part of town had a small traffic load, the department of transportation decided to build a 2 – lane highway, each facing the opposite direction! Less than a mile on my gas paddle was a gas station to my left and some drivers made turns to refill their tanks. That is exactly what the third commuter ahead of me did and so he slowed all of us down.

What happened next was terrible. I hate remembering it sometimes. As we slowed down to wait for the opposing traffic to ease for that driver to make his left turn, one driver behind me didn’t slow down. Within a twinkle of an eye, I found myself facing almost the opposite of where I was headed. My car had been forced airborne by a hit from behind. I have to say I was fortunate enough not to hit any opposing traffic which would have caused a chain reaction. Well.

Where was the hitter? Good question. She was forced by the reaction to slide all the way southwards and towards the railway line. I didn’t even think of the possible outcome if a train was passing by. I was horrified. So, the guy right in front of me quickly pulled over and dialed 911 (the number you call when you have emergencies here in the US). After that, I stepped out of my seriously damaged car to go and check on the other driver who couldn’t talk or open her eyes. I was scared that she might have died or something. Luckily, she was not dead – after the paramedics performed CPR on her. (They didn’t raise her from the dead, don’t get me wrong here).

Why am I telling all these? Simple, before you plunge into someone’s rear, make sure you are not texting and driving. Let it be the breaks that malfunction or just something technical. We can solve this problem by starting with ourselves. The next time I saw that lady was in a traffic court. I didn’t even get a chance to ask her one simple question: “Did you know that you could have unintentionally killed me?” I feel like texting and driving is the most dangerous thing today but it can be stopped! Let us not let the government do it for us, let us be our own police! Let us be the change we wish to have!

Finally, thank you so much for reading my blog. Please remember to subscribe! Stay safe, whether you walk on the side of the road or you sit behind the wheel of a car or a bike. Just because you are a careful driver does not mean everyone else is. Life is too short to waste time regretting that one moment when you hit an innocent driver, killing all the passengers in the car or even killing yourself (in this case you won’t be there to attend your funeral).

NB: For my readers out there, here is something I do not want you to miss: On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I will be giving away MY LIFE SENTENCES – A TRUE STORY on amazon for FREE. Let us make this dream of being #1 on Amazon come true. Thank You So Much! Stay safe!

Much ado ’bout Love – The Unknown

Image

My whole body was exhausted after being on the computer desk for long [I don’t recommend this]. Just before that, I had arrived home from a group service [Serving With Hope] where I met very great people. In my mind however, thoughts were streaming endlessly. I just couldn’t stop thinking about what I personally could do to make this world a better place. There was fire burning inside me!

I will only talk about one of the thoughts I had: Embracing new people in my life. That brings the word ‘strangers’ into my mind. I have to admit this: I am not the kind of person that easily starts conversations with strangers although that contradicts some of the things I have already done like publishing My Life Sentences autobiography. Still, I ask myself whether I can do better than being shy or not. If I find out that someone might be interested in talking to me, then it only takes me a short time to get involved. There is one secret many people do not know: most people like talking about themselves, so, give them that chance – this is a secret, no longer!

Here is my experience on Love – as far as other human beings are concerned: In the past year, I have interacted with many different people, most of them had nothing to do with what I do. At the beginning of the connections, I asked myself whether they were genuine or just interested in something else. I have learned since then that most people just want to do good things. So what exactly does it mean to do a good thing to someone else? That is a totally endless topic to discuss. I feel like doing something good to someone else means showing unconditional love.

My challenge to my readers is this: ask yourself, what have you done to show that you care, not just about your friends or family or your country, what about strangers? Have you made a difference? This is definitely not a demand. I have faced the same challenges, I still face them today and sometimes, I just have no idea where to start doing something One expert once said that the hardest thing to do is to start something.

Every week, I start conversations with new people. What is my goal? Simple, I want to learn new things from them, listen to what they say and that way, they will listen to me as well. Every first time contact is covered by the unexpected, the unknown reactions and of course the last impression I will make. The other thing is, I want to extend what I know, my opinions on things, share with them what I have in mind and finally make this world a better place.

Finally, if you love something, you will do all you can to see it in the shape you want[good]. Learn to talk to people, you never know how helpful you could be. Learn to listen to others, you just have no idea what you do not know. To all my readers out there, you are the best friends I have, you are the people I can share my stories and feelings with. I wish I could do more to make this world a better home for all of us.

Show some love. Pass it on. Life is worth living, because of love. This world, after all, could use some love. What do you think? Respond below this post!

Thank you for reading. Got questions? Ask in the comments section, I will respond to them!
